VYAYAMA TO ANNAPANA

Most of us love annapana (food), Right!

Well if you do your physical workout regularly then all types of annapana are allowed. So let's talk about the last four karya's under Dincharya.

Before talking about it I would like to know, are you following some of the steps or just reading them? Do share your experience as how dincharya according to Ayurveda is bringing difference in your health and life.

In today's blog I will tell you about-

•Exercise

•body massage

•Bathing

•Breakfast

"Ah! Obviously I'm aware about all of them". Some of you must have thought this.

Are you really aware about these activities. Let's see.

Exercise

We all are aware about why exercise is important. Most people are health conscious and try to keep their body in shape.
Exercising not only helps you to accomplish weight loss but it also prepares our body to fight several infections.

Benefits of exercising

Our Veda's say -

• Vyayama brings strength to the body

•Makes body stable

•Brings Laghuta (lightens the body)

•The three doshas are pacified

•Our digestive power increases

• Strengthens immunity which helps our body to fight infections.

•Loss of extra fat (This prevents obesity which could lead to serious heart related problems, diabetes and many other's)

• Prevent thyroid, increases metabolic rate, old age does not attack early

The best time to perform vyayama is after 6 am till 11 am. Why?

Because this is the Kapha period.

Kapha dosh is based on earth and water. This makes the body steady, slow, soft and heavy.

So exercising during kapha period of the day is beneficial for great results.

If you can't go out for exercise, No Worries. You can perform yoga, skipping and other exercises according to your convenience.

Duration and intensity of workout depends on one's lifestyle. If you are sitting and working all day then you should definitely workout regularly for at least 5 days a week for one hour.

Along with physical exercise it is very important to take care of your mental health as well. Meditation solves that problem.  Meditating for 15-20 minutes regularly improves your mental health. I already discussed about the best time for meditation in my previous blogs.

So make sure you are taking care of your physical and mental health.

I can only inform you, guide you with ways to improve your lifestyle but the crucial part is how you apply these steps in your life and take care of yourself.

I'm saying it again, only you can bring change for yourself.

Is it okay to exercise 365 days?

No! It is not at all important to exercise all year. If you are doing intense workout 20-25 days a month it is completely okay. If you prefer to walk then do it for atleast an hour.

Nowadays you must have observed that you don't feel like waking up in the morning and start your day with a productive morning routine. You feel tired most of the time. Why does this happen?

This is because during this season (July- August) sun absorbs all the energy. In our Veda's it is mentioned that if a person is not well, too old, too young(kids), pregnant ladies, one suffering from some disease, those who do fasting should not exercise.

If you exercise keep a check on your diet as well. By this I don't mean that you walk for an hour and start eating more than your diet, if you do intense workout or your lifestyle includes more physical work then you should definitely keep a check on your diet.

Excessive exercise can lead to increase of vata dosha in the body which will cause health problems. So exercise regularly but in a limit and keep a check on your diet as well. Don't skip your workout routines because of laziness.

Let's talk about the next step -

Oil application and body massage

After exercising one should apply oil on the body and gently massage the body parts.

This will realax the muscles and will improve the blood supply.

You can visit massage parlours on weekends but I would suggest you to do it yourself.

You can use warm mustard oil and apply it on your body and massage all the parts yourself before bathing. This will relax your body after exercising.

The next two steps are very common but I have seen people who do not practice them regularly.

First let's talk about bathing.

Bathing

A very basic step of morning routines but some people don't think it is important and do not take bath regularly.
So for those who don't bath regularly start doing it regularly, this activity washes out all the  negativity from your body.
The negative energy is removed, all the germs and dirt is removed from the body and you look tidy, feel fresh and ready for the day.

The pores on our skin opens and makes our skin look fresh and healthy.

It is mentioned in our Veda's that one should always join hands in front of God after bathing thanking him for the new day and fresh start.

Annapana(Breakfast)

Most of us leave breakfast because of work. People are not aware that it is the crucial meal of the day. Skipping breakfast is not healthy for a good start of the day. Our body needs energy after a long night and if you don't take breakfast your mind will not work to it's fullest and you can not give 100% on your tasks.

A good , healthy breakfast is a must.
A high-tech protein breakfast is a good option as it will keep you full for a long time .

Always try to consume less fat and more protein in the morning.
Remember anything in excess will always lead you towards bad health, excess protein can damage your liver, excess fats and carbohydrates can lead you towards obesity, high cholesterol, heart problems.
So balanced diet is important and always keep your water intake in check.
If you are eating healthy, doing physical workout, meditate regularly you are already away from many diseases.

With this I have shared all the steps under dincharya with you. I hope that you will not only read them but also apply them in your life and will take a good step towards health.

Keep trying and follow these karya's, at least some of them and say goodbye to many health problems.
Always remember-"Health is wealth."
