The next 3Karya's

I'm back with the next blog. I hope those who really want to take a step towards good health by adopting ayurveda are bringing changes in their routine.

So how was your experience of waking up in Brahma Mahurata? Still struggling with it? As I told you earlier this is the most difficult step under dincharya.

Nowadays, lifestyle is the major factor that affect a person's  health. We all are so tied up with our work and we prefer it over everything else.

It is okay being tied up with things but time management is very important and make sure your routine, your work load is not effecting your mental health.

Along with other responsibilities it is important to have 'ME TIME'. Never forget to give some time to yourself and performing an activity you love, whether it is cooking or reading or gardening or dancing or whatever, it is very important to have some spare time for yourself. This will improve your mental health.

You can perform meditation in your morning routine or after your Me Time. It's okay to take a break for an hour to improve your health. You will never get free time, you have to take it out for yourself.

The Karya's mentioned in Dincharya are basic and by taking petite steps you can bring change in your lifestyle.

Some of you must be thinking that by reading a blog I cannot mess up with my routine, my work. Nobody is asking you to do that, the blog is to share information about ayurveda , to make people aware about it as how they can take simple steps at home to avoid many health problems.

There are many karya's mentioned under dincharya. If you will manage to follow at least any 3 of them, it will bring a big change in your health.

As I already said in my last blog only you can bring change for yourself. If you are healthy you will do much better at work and in managing other life problems.

Let's take another step towards health and discuss the importance of DAATUN, NASYA & GANDUSH.

                  Benefits of Daatun

Earlier people used Daatun for cleaning teeth. Even today in some areas people use it regularly.

Where can I find Daatun?

The teeth cleaning twigs (Daatun) can be obtained from variety of tree species.

•Neem tree
• Babool
•Curry leaves
•Cinnamon

These are the basic tree species that are easily available around us. The sticks of these trees can be used as Daatun.

The sticks are chewed properly from one end and when frayed are used to brush against teeth.

You can grow these medicinal plants around you and if these are not available you can buy the teeth cleaning twigs online or from Ayurvedic medicinal store.

Size and shape-

Daatun should be as thick as your little finger and should me atleast 10 mm long.

Practice this everyday or at least twice a week. This karya will give you relief from gum problems and tooth decay.

                 Benefits of Nasya

Nasal instillation of oil is practiced by many people. You must have seen your elders installing oil in ears, nose and belly button before or after bathing.

Installing oil in your nose for 10-15 min every morning will prevent you from nasal congestion, allergies, headaches and other nasal infections.

This practice is also a part of Panchkarma(deep cleansing of the body). Five types of nasya are performed under Panchkarma. You cannot practice that at home daily so simple oil instillation is enough.

Under Panchkarma a special mixture is prepared for nasya karm but in your daily routine you can use mustard oil.

The oil should be warm and calming.

If you want proper body cleansing you can visit an Ayurvedic physician or any Panchkarma center near you.

                   OIL PULLING

It is very important to brush your teeth before oil pulling.

This practice detoxifies and purifies the entire human body by pulling out toxins. The practice is mentioned in our Vedas as GANDUSH.
Under this practice you put oil in your mouth and work it out around your teeth and gums. When you will spit it out of your mouth after 10 min it will become milky white bringing out the toxins from your body.
It is like an Ayurvedic Mouth wash.
Coconut oil is considered good for this technique. You can also use sesame oil or mustard oil. (Products are available in Ayurvedic stores as well for Gandusha) . This is the easiest way to remove toxins from the body.

Why toxin removal is important?

Nowadays we all consume processed food, fried food, junk food and we are also inhaling many pollutants present in the air.

The pollutants and other harmful microorganisms stick to our body and lead to health problems like acne, asthma, constipation, migraine etc.

So it is very important to remove these toxins regularly.

How oil pulling works?

In lower classes you must have studied that -oil and water do not mix well but,

- oil and oil mix together properly.

The science behind this practice is microorganisms are covered with lipids(fats) and when we practice oil pulling this oil attracts the toxins covered with fatty layer like a magnet and remove it out from the body.

Our mouth acts as a mirror to internal organs.

So instead of trying detoxifying drinks and other products practice oil pulling daily.

I hope that the importance and benefits of these three karya's is clear and how these practices can prevent you from various health problems and make you a healthy being.

As you are aware about the First 5 karya's under Dincharya, do apply them in your life and observe the change in your mental and physical health. Share it with your family and friends as well.

Thank you for reading.
